Kena’s Engagement Henna
My 1400-mile journey a few weekends ago was all for my childhood friend, Kena. We were seeing each other after 13 years. Several people including her asked me if it was worth the 1400 miles I had driven to be a part of her celebration, and I found every minute worth it!
Kena and her fiancé, Zubin appear to be a match made in heaven (pardon the cliché). They are both very sweet, multi-talented doctors whose friendship bloomed into a romantic relationship that neither could refuse.
Art is influenced by many factors. Undoubtedly, one of these factors is the energy surrounding the art while it is being produced. Even though Kena was moving and waving at every single friend and family walking through the door while I was doing her mehndi, it turned out pretty well because that house was full of love and the best wishes for Kena and Zubin.
Can you find the ‘Z’ (for Zubin) hidden in Kena’s engagement henna? It only took him about five minutes to find.
On Kena’s insistence, even the groom-to-be, Zubin agreed to get a K on his hand. You can see Kena enjoying watching her friend, Kanan putting a K on Zubin’s hand.
As I was doing Kena’s engagement henna, which could be easily mistaken for bridal mehndi, she asked me how the color of her mehndi was going to turn out. Since I make my own henna paste, I can guarantee a very dark color as long as the client follows the proper aftercare instructions, but instead, I made sure that her fiancé, Zubin was listening when I replied to her, “How dark your color will come out will depend on how much Zubin loves you.”
Based on her stain in these pictures taken 72 hours after her henna was done, how much would you say he loves her?
