Henna is the name of the art form as well as the shrub (lawsonia inermis) that grows in hot and dry areas of the world. Henna grows in the Middle East, Northeast Africa, and Southeast Asia.

Henna paste is used to dye hair, nails, and skin as a form of body art. Henna paste is made using natural henna powder which is made from the dried out leaves of the henna shrub. These leaves are dried and crushed into a powder. This powder can be sifted through a fine cloth or sieve multiple times to get a powder that is a fine baby powder consistency which is known as body art quality (BAQ).
